By 1740, a new era had dawned. This was the era of the greats - Frederick the Great, Maria Theresa the Great, and soon followed by Catherine the Great. Where did Poland fit when the picture was dominated by such formidable personalities? Before we answer that question, we should meet one of these greats face to face.
