Some questions about the early history covered so far. What was the relationship of the szlachta with the Catholic Church? Is it true that Polish lands escaped the worst of the Black Death and other calamities of the fourteenth century and did this lead to the rise of strong and relatively prosperous Poland? Did Poland encourage Jewish settlers because one early king had a beloved Jewish mistress? Interested in any comments / opinions!
