This was a complex commission but it was very fun to do. I tried a lot of things I usually don't get asked to make since the sketching phase.
About the process:
In the beginning I was thinking in an interior scene, experimented a lot with interior light, a room, a cottage, etc, but in the end I didn't like it in combination with the white fur and decided it was better an exterior scene with natural light, like a beach.
Another trouble I encounter was that the initial body and face shape did't look quite right with the style I was aiming for. So I used a lot of repaint here and tricks like transform and liquify until I was satisfied with the result.
If those two things were right from the beginning probably it would have took a little less time. So I'll pay more attention to these things for future projects. This took 4 weeks to paint, while one of my goals with Patreon is to reduce this kind of work to 2 or 3 weeks. I'm half of the way since these usually these took 5 weeks like a year ago.
Another thing I tried was to make a more colorful scene with a more vibrant palette than the ones I have used before. Even tested to oversaturate the colors at one point, but scaled back a bit to make it more realistic in the color correction phase.
