Is this why “selfie sticks” came into fashion? Did the public realize that handing your phone to a complete stranger is a shocking display of trust that doesn’t match up with our lending policy for any other possession (particularly our phones) under any other circumstances.
But then, why did they go out of fashion? Did we realize that a world where we can’t trust one another is a society destined for collapse and primed for fascism? Did we realize that if we don’t start taking the risk of trusting other human beings then we’ll lose everything that makes life worth living?
Actually, it’s probably more than likely people just realized how stupid they look. Just as well, it doesn’t seem like less selfie sticks have bought us any more time anyway.
