Truth in Daring (free version)
Added 2025-07-21 19:25:32 +0000 UTCI wasn’t planning to talk about the minutia of the “production” process for this particular comic. I’m only comfortable bringing it up because of how much it didn’t pan out. I was really excited about the idea of getting an “in camera” reflection of the teller in the fourth panel. I set up this whole rig you see here. It almost worked exactly as intended, but I foolishly thought the camera on my iPhone would be high enough quality to capture not only the reflection, but everything behind it in high enough resolution for my liking. I did use a real reflection on the glass, but I just had to overlay that onto everything else. Remember kids, sometimes you can plan everything and work really hard and it just won’t quite work out anyway.
I call this photo “A Portrait in Hubris”.
