YouTube Craze

Yesterday evening YouTube suddenly took down our German channel (which is the second biggest RFU channel with almost 100k subscribers), after months of terorrizing our Spanish channel (which is our fourth biggest RFU channel with more than 60k subscribers).

Several hours ago, the monetization on the German channel was restored.

I know you are tired of them, but I will probably have to make another video update on the war with YouTube craziness over the last 2 months. But the point of this post is to show you why exactly I am gradually switching my reliance to Patreon.

Even though the German channel was quickly restored, such events do not boost our confidence in the platform, especially given that YouTube confiscated the income from the Spanish channel for October, November, and December due to “invalid traffic.” They refuse to elaborate and say this: “To maintain the integrity of our invalid activity detection system and to prevent users from circumventing the system, we aren’t able to provide details on what activity we noticed in your account.”

Some people accuse us and say that it’s all about money. RFU has become an organization involving a lot of people, meaning it will die without generating money. I hope this is pretty easy to understand.

I'm actually really interested in the plight of journalists on Youtube and the impact of malicious reporting and Google's fraud detection algo. Keep up the posting.

I've also had trouble with Google randomly imposing penalties for no reason, though in the realm of Android apps, rather than YouTube. They really are becoming the worst sort of unaccountable bureaucracy - kinda think it would be better for everyone if they were broken up by regulators.
