Hi All,
After my last post, you may have seen SteamID went down again for a full rebuild… But that comes with good news, we have over 3 days of up-time without any issues, No random lock ups other than myself working on the main database - Avatar history is back, The database has been optimized a little more and its looking good. All servers are powered up and the new database server is taking it well.
I saw an opportunity to get a 32 bay server which will give SteamArchive some breathing room – Its cheaper for me to have one larger server than 2 or 3 smaller ones as my electric bill runs into the hundreds every month on top of all the rented equipment. Having spent a lot on server gear this last 2 months any changes will have to wait a while.. although I desperately want 2 x SAS SSDs for the 2 blank slots in the server pictured (purposely left them blank for this reason) there is a pair of 600GB 15k drives in there I got brand new and the rest is filled with 28 x 900GB 10k SAS drives
That’s the positive update for now, I’m still looking at re-cable the entire rack as it’s a mess so there maybe some tiny drop outs to Steam Archive and text searching over December but with everything looking stable it means I can start developing the website again and progressing with features, refinements and fixes.
Maybe even start machine learning with the data I have…
As always, thanks for the support its been a bit rough recently
