Lore: Fallen

In today's world, a fallen angel, or even a demon, is one who has lost all supernatural nature, and their soul becomes part of humanity. They become souls with no powers, no aura or wings.... But the most striking consequence is the loss of all memory prior to the fall, leaving them as wandering humans with no awareness of their former nature.  Only a human body and a mortal existence ahead of them.

There are two ways for a supernatural to reach this definitive state with no known possibility of redress:

- The first is that the angel or demon does so voluntarily and conscious of the irreversible consequences.

The way to gradually deplete and wear down their spirit to its ultimate limit is to subdue it with acts contrary to their own nature: in the case of angels, this will happen every time they commit a sin, and in the case of demons every time they act in a selfless and good way, actions that relate to each of the seven angelic virtues.

- However, there are also supernaturals who have lost all their essence and immortality without having planned it before.The first ones who became them, came to this situation by spending most of their existence mingling with the human race. Not just trying to nurture the darkness or the light in their souls, but becoming enraptured by these creatures, to the point of adopting their customs, their way of speaking, of relating to each other... And even coming to coexist with them, taking them as equals.

When a supernatural gets into a routine like this, and leaves aside everything that makes him special, little by little his spirit forgets his own essence. And in an almost natural way, they become so attached to the human body they possess that one day, they can no longer be separated. They become somehow "trapped" in what was once just a shell, but is now all they have left.

Yet the process doesn't take place instantaneously, but is a slow process, the pace of which will depend both on the supernatural itself and on the acts that cause the attrition. For example, one sin is not the same as another. That is to say, the spirit suffers a greater and more important damage in the case in which an angel or a demon allows themselves to be carried away by the opposite sin or virtue to the one they possess. (Lust/Chastity, Charity/Greed), Temperance/gluttony... etc.)

In the end, the fall of a supernatural is experienced as a chronic illness, progressively degenerating until the end. During the process the angel or demon will have definite symptoms, as if it were a real illness, something neither race has ever felt before:

• The sensation this gives them is very intense and painful, but also brief. As if marking their aura, their purest essence, with a red-hot iron, leaving a mark that is not visible to the normal eye, but which they themselves and, at a more advanced stage, other supernaturals can sense. A dark stain, similar to demon blood in the case of angels, and a spark of warm light in the case of demons.
• As humanity accumulates, the supernatural will begin to feel physical needs, without having expended energy or being wounded as happens in their normal state when they're in their human form.
• At first, they'll be the most basic ones, those that any human would need to survive: hunger, thirst and sleep. At a moderate level, they'll still be able to control them.
• In a second stage, the basic physical needs will be joined by other more specific and physiological needs such as: the need to go to the bathroom, vomiting, headaches, hormonal alterations and attractions... And even if the human body they have chosen is female, they'll begin to regulate their periods.
• Physical weakness is also increasing. Their human body is becoming more and more real.They feel more attached to that body, it is heavier and they find it harder to return to their angel/demon form.  Also, their supernatural body regenerates with increasing difficulty. It could also generate certain minor illnesses, such as eye problems, flu, minor stomach ailments...
• In the final stretch, the supernatural will be trapped in its human form. All that will remain of their angel/demon form will be the wings, which they'll still be able to use although with difficulty, and an increasingly faint and difficult to discern aura.
• They themselves will cease to be able to see the wings and auras of their fellows and their opponents, making it almost impossible to distinguish them from an ordinary human.
• The human body, until they abandon all their supernatural essence completely, will be rather sickly and weak, like that of a convalescent who is recovering very slowly and forcibly. If they're a demon, their blood will affect them much the same as a human, causing them quite severe pain for as long as it's in their system. In the case of an angel, their own blood, being still in abundance in their body, will produce an almost constant lethargy.
• That body will now metabolise human medicines and everything that their previous bodies didn't do.
• The wings will wither, the feathers slowly fall off. Needless to say how painful this process is, as if a piece of yourself is being torn out drop by drop.
• In the moment just before the process ends, the wings are nothing more than a structure that falls apart in the air, just like the memory of the supernatural.
• At the end, they falls unconscious. When they wake up, they'll have a notion of their name, a vague routine to avoid the feeling that they have just appeared out of nowhere, but no memory. As if they had always been there alone and without an origin.

En el mundo actual, un ángel, o incluso un demonio, caído es aquel que ha perdido toda su naturaleza sobrenatural, y su alma pasa a formar parte de la humanidad. Se convierten en almas sin poderes, ni aura o alas... Aunque la consecuencia más llamativa es la pérdida de toda memoria anterior a la caída, quedando como humanos errantes y sin consciencia de su anterior naturaleza. Tan sólo un cuerpo humano y una existencia mortal por delante.

Existen dos formas para que un sobrenatural llegue a este estado definitivo y sin ninguna posibilidad de resarcirse conocida hasta el momento:

- La primera es que el ángel o el demonio lo haga de forma voluntaria y consciente de las consecuencias irreversibles.

El modo de mermar y desgastar poco a poco su espíritu hasta el último límite es sometiéndolo con actos contrarios a su propia naturaleza: en el caso de los ángeles, esto sucederá cada vez que cometan un pecado, y en el de los demonios cada vez que actúen de forma desinteresada y buena, acciones que se relacionen con cada una de las siete virtudes angélicas.

- Sin embargo, también existen sobrenaturales que han perdido toda su esencia y su inmortalidad sin haberlo planeado antes. Los primeros que se convirtieron en ellos, llegaron a esta situación al pasar la mayoría de su existencia mezclados con la raza humana. No sólo intentando alimentar la oscuridad o la luz en su alma, sino quedando embelesados por estas criaturas, al punto de adoptar sus costumbres, su manera de hablar, de relacionarse... Y hasta llegando a convivir con ellos, tomándolos como iguales.

Cuando un sobrenatural se adentra en una rutina como esta, y deja de lado todo lo que lo hace especial, poco a poco su espíritu se olvida de su propia esencia. Y de una manera casi natural, este se liga tanto al cuerpo humano que poseen que un día, ya no puede separarse. Quedan de algún modo “atrapados” en lo que una vez fue sólo un cascarón, pero que ahora es todo lo que les queda.

Aún así el proceso no se realiza de forma instantánea, sino que se trata de un recorrido lento, cuyo ritmo dependerá tanto de cada sobrenatural en sí como de los actos que causen el desgaste. Por ejemplo, no es lo mismo un pecado que otro. Es decir, el espíritu sufre un daño mayor e importante en el caso en que un ángel o un demonio se dejen llevar por el pecado o virtud contrario al que poseen. (Lujuria/Castidad, Caridad/Avaricia, Templanza/gula... etc)

Al final, la caída de un sobrenatural se experimenta como una enfermedad crónica, que degenera progresivamente hasta el final. Durante el proceso el ángel o el demonio tendrá síntomas definidos, como si de verdad se tratara de una enfermedad, algo que ninguna de las dos razas ha sentido nunca antes:

• La sensación que esto les produce es muy intensa y dolorosa, pero también breve. Como si marcaran su aura, su esencia más pura, con un hierro al rojo vivo, dejando una marca que no es visible al ojo normal, pero que ellos mismos y, llegado un estadio más avanzado, otros sobrenaturales sí pueden intuir. Una mancha oscura, similar a la sangre de demonio en el caso de los ángeles, y una chispa de luz cálida en el caso de los demonios.
• Conforme se acumule la humanidad, el sobrenatural empezará a sentir necesidades físicas, sin haber gastado energía o estar heridos como ocurre en su estado normal cuando están en su forma humana.
• En un principio, serán las más básicas, las que cualquier humano necesitaría para sobrevivir: hambre, sed y sueño. En un nivel moderado, que todavía podrán controlar. 
• En un segundo estadio, a las necesidades físicas básicas se les sumarán otras más concretas y fisiológicas como: la necesidad de ir al baño, vomitar, sufrir jaquecas, alteraciones y atracciones hormonales... E incluso si el cuerpo humano que eligieron es femenino, comenzarán a regular el período.
• La debilidad física también va en aumento. Su cuerpo humano se va volviendo cada vez más real. Se notan más unidos a ese cuerpo, es más pesado y notan que les cuesta más volver a su forma de ángel/demonio. Así mismo su cuerpo sobrenatural cada vez se regenera con más dificultad. También podría generar ciertas enfermedades leves, como problemas en la vista, gripes, dolencias estomacales menores...
• En la recta final, el sobrenatural quedará atrapado en su forma humana. Todo lo que quedará de su forma de ángel/demonio serán las alas, que aún serán capaces de usar aunque con dificultades, y un aura cada vez más tenue y difícil de intuir.
• Ellos mismos dejarán de ser capaces de ver las alas y las auras de sus congéneres y de sus contrarios, siendo casi imposible distinguirlos de un humano corriente.
• El cuerpo humano, hasta que abandonen toda su esencia sobrenatural por completo, será más bien enfermizo y débil, como el de un convaleciente que se recupera de manera muy lenta y forzosa. Si es un demonio, la sangre de estos le afectará prácticamente igual que a un humano, causándole dolores bastante fuertes mientras se encuentre en su propio organismo. En el caso de un ángel, su propia sangre al estar en abundancia aún en su cuerpo, le producirá un letargo casi constante.
• Ese cuerpo ya metabolizará las medicinas humanas y todo lo que sus anteriores cuerpos no hacían.
• Las alas se irán marchitando, las plumas se caen lentamente. Sobra mencionar lo doloroso de este proceso, como si fueran arrancando un trozo de ti mismo gota a gota.
• En el momento justo antes de que termine el proceso, las alas no son más que una estructura que se deshace en el aire, al igual que la memoria del sobrenatural.
• Al llegar el final, este cae inconsciente. Cuando despierte, tendrá noción de su nombre, de una vaga rutina para evitar la sensación de que acaba de aparecer de la nada, pero ningún recuerdo. Como si siempre hubiera estado allí solo y sin un origen.
