Added 2020-07-17 18:20:26 +0000 UTCThis last week I've seen many posts on twitter, reddit and discord about the actions Patreon took against content creators, and for the safety of the comic and its future, after a lengthy discussion on discord with the supporters there, we agreed that the best course of action is to leave this Patreon account activated, but to not post any content anymore. This allow people who want to support the comic here to keep doing so if they really want to, and allow this place to be forgotten and left alone by malicious actors.
90% of the fanbase is on discord, and 70% of the paid support is already there. The donation bot worked fine for over a year now, and doesn't charge fees, VAT or other taxes.
If what's holding you back is security, you have to understand the bot is just an automated way for you to send me a paypal payment, all the actual security is handled by paypal itself. It's the equivalent of me messaging you my paypal address, there is not shoddy third party security involved.
If what's holding you back is social interaction, you don't have to if you don't want to, just mute the entire server and check the comic channel once in a while for updates!
All I'm trying to say, is that at this point Patreon is more dead weight to me than an actual useful platform, but there is still about 500$ worth of funding funneled through here, so simply shutting it down is unreasonable, not until everyone leave. So I plan to keep it running, but will keep my interaction with it to a minimum. I hope you understand, and I thank you for the many years of support here, and I hope to see you on discord eventually.
