I was wondering about something...
Added 2015-01-10 17:57:46 +0000 UTCThe next page is well on its way and should be ready on sunday as usual...but as I'm working on it I was thinking about things to come in the comic and came to a problem. In the Fairies versus Tentacle (FvT) Universe, fairies are born from cocoons already mature, and don't age...but yet we still count their age in years... so a Fairy like Aquei could actually be only 5 years old, while a fairy like Irah could be 50, or 200 years old! Now what I'm wondering about is that with all the anti loli-art paranoia going around the Internet these last years, should I avoid mentioning the age of certain fairies in the comic, if they are like, younger than 18 years old, in fear that my comic could get banned for cause of child porn or what not? What do you think?

Thank you for your advices! I can't think of a particular moment where the story would need to know the precise age of the younger fairies, but there was going to be a scene eventually where we see a fairy being "born", and another where some would refer to their age in relation to an event that happened in their recent history, like "Oh you weren't born in that time, but I was already 20 years old" So if anything, for the sake of political correctness I'll make sure that the main character cast are all 20 or older. While fairies are born mature, memories and experience are something they're not born with, so age still play a role, as some of the oldest fairies remember the end of the previous war with the nihallaks, and THAT'S is going to be a key part of the story.

2015-01-11 02:06:31 +0000 UTCyou can do something Similar to star wars Jedi's youngling age is like 5 to10 and Padawan's are 10 to 18 age then a Knight's are 20 and up and so on. make a list on the ages on the patreon as in a Encyclopedia like the Dark Forest Encyclopedia you done :)

2015-01-11 00:17:28 +0000 UTCI have to agree with Mark and AndenW. It's a way to avoid getting yourself into danger. Of course, if you needed to state an age too young, you could always try to emphasize that fairies are born mature not only bodily but also mentally and psychologically -perhaps they had some way to communicate before growing out of their cocoon. But still, the safest approach would be to mention nothing. I don't think it'd mess anything with your comicbook.
2015-01-10 23:49:47 +0000 UTCI ran into something similar with my second novel. If you don't have a strong reason to mention their ages, don't. Fairies are fairly ageless and timeless. Go with that.
2015-01-10 23:18:28 +0000 UTCIf you're worried about it, then don't mention their ages. They're fairies that pop out fully mature, body-wise. If you need to mention an age, just say that said fairy is 'young', but remind people that young for a fairy could be under 50, while anyone under 20 is practically a baby!
