Okay folks, it will be 4 years on Patreon on May 10th. To celebrate you all supporting me in this way I'm going to be doing a giveaway.
Now because of Patreon's rules, which suck very much badly. I have to choose a random giveaway open to the public, or something based on merit. I don't want to stand in judgement of you, so I'll be doing an open giveaway. Which means that anyone who shows up and follows the rules has an equal chance to win.
I want to thank all of you some who have been with me for all 4 years. The longest of you joined just four days after I opened the page up, that's just, wow. I wish you all the best of luck in this contest, and I hope you all cheer on each other as well. Let’s see some heart clicks on the comments.
RULES:
Comment below which character you enjoy the most and why. Then comment on which character you hate the most and why, and perhaps which series specifically as some names have been used more than once. If you can do these two things you will be added to the pool for random drawing of the prizes. The winners will get a choice of prizes starting with the first drawn, and going down the line until all prizes have been given out.
Contest will end on May 10th, the anniversary date. I will list the winners in the comments, and then message the winners to start the process.

Skippy gilden (Sorry if I mispelt the surname) from alphaworld, being an asshole because he can, being all "high and mighty", using political and fiscal machinations to try and get his own way and stop anything good taking hold.

So for favorite I’ll say a tie between Rosa from LV( can’t wait to hear Andie give life to her) or Fiona from BW. Both strong in there in right and a little damaged, and completely devoted to their man. A little crazy and powerful helluva combo. As far as least favorite gotta be Whitaker from LV over Sharpeyes just barely. “Into whatsoever house I enter, I will enter to help the sick and I will abstain from all intentional wrong-doing and harm, especially from abusing the bodies of man or woman, bond or free” I mean a doctor that only helps his kind is disgusting.

Least Favorite: Ryann BW - partially its her voice in the audio version but really her insecurity and jealousy just get on my nerves. It can be cute and endearing but it doesnt work for me with her. Maybe because she as a woman doesnt really peak my interest?

What makes him stand out for me is his approach to where his life is going. All your other lead characters have one cord cut and start on this new one (Alpha World is a gray area on this); he is stepping back and forth. Facing his limitations and making the best of poor options in one world, and sharing great core values in another. Think about it: He is facing his own end but is more concerned about those he loves and even those he meets. He has placed his wants below the wants and needs of others. As a father - I know I can and have done this, but to do it for strangers and others just because it is right. I hope I have the strength to be like that. In this life so far, I have had my passes and my fails. It was seeing them in this book that made it resonate. For the Bananas!!!! (PS: BW is still my favorite series, but Lost Horizons was my intro to Dan and his works)

Least favorite (of your MC’s) - Alburet. Just not a fan of mentally ill / broken characters, but I still enjoyed the series.

Bitter, twisted, shallow, petty, perverted, he ticks all of the wrong boxes. This is strange as AW is actually my favourite series.

Sherriff Grange is my most hated character because he just seems to be an a-hole for the sake of it to the MC, even when Doc has helped saved his life.

He is one of those characters that always makes you smile with his insane dialogue but at the same time you can tell he is intelligent and thoughtful underneath his mercury addled commentary. Claudia from AG is my most hated character. I dated a girl like her for a very short time and reading about Claudia getting at least what's coming to her has been even more satisfying than watching Skippy and Klein get killed over and over again.

It still isn’t as good as his other work in my opinion, but I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would based on what was released here.

My most hated character would be Ophelia, from Alpha World. The harm she was capable of dealing to someone terrified me. Definitely the most terrifying character in AW to me.

My least favorite is Nick from Aether's Revival since he is a perfect mix of pettiness and entitlement that just needs to be smacked down repeatedly. My most hated character would be Sheriff Grange, as unlike the other antagonists in your stories, his is a special brand of racism and pettiness than unfortunately corrupts his role as Sheriff. I've always like characters and stories with magic, and or engineering/construction where fantastic items are made and Sean does both. As to hated, I haven't read the Dungeon Walker novel yet. But I did read most of what you had posted here on patreon. The story just didn't capture me like your others have. It seemed flat not as much depth of characters as BW or AR.

Doc comes in with a very close 2nd to Gregory, for many of the same reasons…in truth they are virtually tied, but Gregory has a little more character advancement, due to the third book. I suspect when LV 3 comes out, Doc will be tied with Gregory again.

I personally dislike Sean McDougal. Yeah he’s a main character but he keeps making the same mistakes and is a coward at heart.

My least favorite character is probably Lotus and not because of her being such a bitch but rather because I kinda feel like she latched on to Karee and didn’t really even try to help her get over her trauma but is probably trying to twist her into being a mini me of her own fucked up psychosis.

Building a family around support but not there for fluff or just to check a box with regards to harem/relationships, but they also both have serious parts to play in advancing the plot. I've begun to dislike Gothy for very related reasons. I feel more and more that she's just there for color and even the other women in the picture are more active in the scenes actually involving plot then Gothy. I can tell the support and relationship is there and solid, but she is my least favorite (which is as far as I can go towards disliking) of any of the characters in any of the series I'm currently reading. It may also be influenced (or is influencing) the fact that AG went from my first favorite series of Daniel's, to fourth.

2021-05-01 16:53:56 +0000 UTCGregory Pettit of aethers revival is the best character to me, He's been told he's a God reincarnated but he doesn't let it go to his head he still strives to grow to be worthy of those around him. And he has a thirst for knowledge and power so he can do the right thing. My most hated character is lord sharpeyes from binding words. Prior to his son being killed by Sean I really do not see a reason for him to step into the situation and fight against Sean. You can say he's friends with the others who are against Sean but he is a noble all of the others involved are not he should at the very least tried to get riches and boons from Sean before deciding to impede his progress. What self serving noble wouldn't just take the side of who ever can give them the most. Or the newest and greatest inventions.

I like that. Greg is similar as he puts his all into everything, but he still has his hang ups and isn’t as cunning. Most disliked is Evan Sharpeyes. He and his father are good examples of a sadistic, entitled pricks with power. Hunting people? Fuck that. Nick Shun is very similar but Evan has a few more years and more free rein to be an asshole. Also, Andie does such a good job with Sharpeyes and Shun that you just want to smack them over and over. Punchable voices

Still an asshole, but now a likeable asshole. For hated...Skippy in Alpha World. The escalating acts of hate and violence until his death...there is a reason each series has a Skippy. Weather his wishing to not mess up and to be able to help his friends or the fact that you can see his character grow as the story progresses. Either way he is my favorite. Doc from your Luck series is my most if not hated at least disliked, I just can't seem to find that connection to Doc that I can with your other MC's

It reminds me very much of my grandmother who developed Alzheimer’s and couldn’t remember saying hi to you, but always gave hugs and smiled all day! My most hated Character is definitely the lord’s son in Binding words (can’t recall his name at the moment) how he belittles his companions, has to fight to prove he is better than everyone and just his overall attitude is the complete package of a villain to me. Congratulations on four years!!! I know I have loved every chapter I have read on here!!

Hated characters is Skippy because Skippy. In everybook there is a Skippy that just tries to ruin every MCs life but always dies quickly lol.

Most favourite would be Alvin from Apocalypse Gates, cause always blowing off morons and supposed authority figures is funny to me.

2021-05-01 14:20:32 +0000 UTCI think Gregory petit is my favorite main character with Alvin (AG) being a close second as he does what he thinks is right but he’s not afraid to do what needs to be done in order to protect his family. I honestly greatly enjoy all the main characters for their own traits and quirks. Most hated character is a toss up between Nick shun (AR) and Evan sharpeyes (BW) Nick shun really needs to be dealt with though I look for to the ultimate confrontation in that story. I want to note though I think Sean mcdugal (BW) is the main character that gives me the most headaches. He’s honestly a coward when it comes to what needs to be done he’s portrayed as a smart character but he’s honestly a single minded idiot that is going to get the rest of his family killed if he doesn’t continue his current course of not backing down. Why not use the fairy’s to spy on Denmur and carver like he did the ork, why not turn invisible and take out his competition that he obviously knows are attacking him. Why not have produced fire arms yet. Instead of being proactive and dealing with his enemies he’s content with just sitting and waiting for the next attack and hoping that his magic will be enough to pull through, which it hasn’t been yet so many deaths/situations could have been handled if he had just thought things through and gone on the attack. At the same time I love this series and can’t wait to see how it goes.

That saied my favorite is David aka Dumadin Shieldbreaker of the Bananas. Still one of my favorites of all time. And Skippy takes the prize for the least favorite, that's the original Skippy. Although they all suck.

It could be that he’s also the least overpowered of your MCs (to date; it’s clear that will change as the series goes on), which makes his struggles and his growth feel more organic and relatable. Big-time honorable mentions for favorite characters go to Posy and Pawly. And I’d have to add Aria, though she’s a bird of a different feather. Least favorite? Can’t decide between Grange and Nick Shun. Both are odious and despicably superior. Shun especially has no reason, having been dispatched numerous times.

Most Hated: Skippy, i simply can't forgive the pain he caused to alburet, fluff, karen and stacia. PS: the question of favorit is EVIL!!!! Alvin, Alburet, Sean and Gregory are all on the first place it only depends on the mood on the given day! Stern will probably join soon but with only 1 book its hard to say.

2021-05-01 12:48:06 +0000 UTCMy favorite character is Alvin from Apocalypse Gates. I love a main character who isn't a whiny little b*tch or a dense as stone idiot. He's like, "yes, I'm surrounded by hot chicks who I love and who love me in a magic game world, I will take advantage of the situation and have mind-blowing sex and orgies with them whenever I can." It's refreshing in an MC for this genre. As for the character I hate most, the skippys are all obviously high on the list, but they sort of blended together in my head so each one becomes less hate-able and more the standard recurring douchebag, so I'll have to go with Nick Shun, because aside from all the racism and plots to injure anyone in his way, he tried to basically get Greg to date-rape and then enslave Yukiko. F*ck that guy.

Nick in AR is my Hate just because he doesn't care if he hurts his own teammates to hurt his opponent

Good day or shifty say. That takes alot of grit. More than I have. There are days I can't bring myself to have the same drive as he does. My hate. Is Skippy of course. He's always a major duck and never once has a ounce of decency. He's the kind of guy you want to punch the minute you see them. Ironically... I adopted a cat readonly who's name is skipper.. luckly.. while being a little shit head, he's not malicious like Skippy..... not yet haha. Just young and very hyper.

Fiercely loyal to his circle. But through the series it shows he has growth and is willing to assist others more, though not completely for free, but not for the amount he was looking to get in the beginning of the series. Most disliked, Kattie, (RQ) though only very small part of of the book. She made everything exponentially harder for the people who were loosely considered friends. Went from working toward 1 goal to 2-3 depending if they want to get her as well in the end.

My most hated character would have to be Sean macdougal because he can’t get over the fact that he should be more like his childhood friend and poke all the girls without worrying ;) haha

2021-05-01 11:49:01 +0000 UTCI both love and hate Sean Macdougal , the love for his character is his growth over the books it’s been a slow burn but the world building with him has been fantastic it made me want to write my own stories after close to forty years of vowing to not write anything but my name (back then schools were shit towards bipolar). The hate is a good thing, because sometimes I want to slap Sean and tell him to man the f up get all his wives together and have a mass orgy to leave them all in a drooling puddle of love not keep whining about what his friend would do, but that is also what I love the duality of the character the way it always seems to be just another page away or maybe in the next book, not like other authors who go story fight bang hot demon/beast girl make part of harem rinse repeat. Very few books I’ve read have I enjoyed as much laughed cried shouted at and put myself into the characters shoes.

So far, I think Evan from binding words is the one I dislike the most. I just have an issue with people that feel they are that above everyone. I used to hate Skippy, but killing him so many times has released the venom

The series as a whole brought a tear to my eye a few times. My least liked character would have to be any of the Skippy's! I love to hate those characters!

2021-05-01 11:44:36 +0000 UTCYuki would be my favourite simply in terms of how generous and long sighted she is, she had no reason to open up her relationship to Gregory to others except that she cared about Jenn's feelings. Alburet would be most hated, I liked the series overall but found that he overstressed constantly and took a long time to come around to the conclusion everyone saw coming.

2021-05-01 11:42:15 +0000 UTCGregory Petit of Aether's Guard to me is the most enjoyed character as he has a lot of potential and has Darkness to guide him and not let his potential consume him so it will be great to see him mature as a young adult and in his powers. As for the most hated character I'd have to say it's Sean MacDougal from the Binding Words series. He has all this power and potential and in creating all these new objects he is greatly affecting the economy and doesn't care who he ruins (aka the canel makers when he figured out a working lightbulb).
