Astra - Monthly Update (October 2022)

Hello Patrons,

Hope everyone is having an amazing Weekend so far! We are well on our way into episode 5 development so let's get started. :^)

WRITING

Scripting is well underway and progressing along quite smoothly so far. We've also been doing a few continuity fixes for the episode 6 storyboard. All in all, nothing out of the ordinary to report!

CHARACTER ART

We are tackling all the essential CGs now to make sure all the key artwork is done for the project. With that being the case, Sunimu's efforts are currently on the epilogue CGs for the characters! These are, of course, massive spoilers so I'll just leave links for them in case you wanted to check them out:

BACKGROUND ART

Background context will have spoilers so please avoid reading below if you want a fresh experience! The first is the alternative lighting for Kai's home planet BG! Next on the list are two ballroom mission BG for when you guys go to the fancy estate. That's also where you will see the character fancy dress outfits. Beyond that, the BG artists are continuing to poke away at episode 5 BGs!

ANIMATION

We've been doing a bunch of bug fixes for the UI animations based on your reports, thank you for that! On the other front, the new narrative developer that joined us last month (who also did episode 4) has a strong background in Naninovel and they've been incorporating a lot of cool effects. The action-motions during Vaela's mission in episode 4 were so well received that he'll be going through the first three episodes and making animation enhancements!

PROGRAMMING

On the technical front, we are just exploring the best way to incorporate character portraits. It will basically just be the artwork on the bottom left like our previous games, we are just trying to find the best (and most resource efficient) way to do it with Naninovel.

AUDIO

Eric is working on the OP as we speak! We should have a rough draft of the song later this week which we'll be sure to share ASAP. After that, it will be off to look for a lyricist and/or vocalist!
