Crystalline - MC Reveal CG

Hey look... it's you! With your trusty little companion of course. :-)

On another note, would you guys prefer a nameable character or a preset name for MC?

Nameable:

+ Immersion

Preset:

- Characters can call you by name (including voice over)

Please feel free to voice your thought over here:

I'm all for naming my own character cause to me it makes me feel so much more immersed in the story even if no one says it I know its there.

Why not both ? You can choose the first name but not the last. Wouldn't it be nicer for immersion ?

Taulmav

nameable, it just feels more like "my" character if it is. but i think that either a last name or a nickname for our character is fine

Nameable. I like this veery much :) feels much better if you have you're own Name :)

Lucas Slavik

Nameable definitely.

I was actually thinking nickname given by SO might be endearing as well as personal but at the same time make the "canon" the player chosen name.

I also like the idea of naming my character but with nicknames that the other characters can use to address the MC.

I have to agree that I quite like the Mass Effect compromise, where you can have voice work refer to the character by a fixed (sur)name, but the player still has the freedom to insert their own forename.

Nameable MC. It makes the story more personal. It makes you feel like you are playing as a character in game, instead of playing a predesigned character. This was also one of the reasons I like Ace Academy a lot. Combined with the choices it felt like a story the player was living.

I'm on the bandwagon with the nameable MC approach. While I know the fact that this sort of thing is challenging to tackle based on the fact that imagination is the limit, it does include some degree of personalization from the player. In fact, approaches in that area have done before in games like say Mass Effect where the MC has a set surname of Shepard and was always addressed as such when names came into play. This would certainly be the cheaper and easier approach to the matter. That's just my opinion for the middle ground.

Same, I enjoyed the idea of a MC name you can set. One idea that I know the VAs will hate is if you use a common enough name, some of the voice lines will change to include the name. Of course that will take INSANELY long but it's an idea.

While I like voice overs, the ability to name our character ourselves (and our sister) was a touch I really enjoyed. I'm fine with either, but my vote goes to Namable MC.
