I'm not really smart for stuff like this but i'm going to assume the upcharge only affect the subscriptions done through the app, so maybe you want to sub again through your pc to not have to pay the fees (30% for apple)?

yep, this has been making the circle of authors around patreon. Long and short of it is you pay a third more if you use the app... and it's not just Apple either... You pay more on the Google Play store also just slightly less than Apple.
