but in short so far, they're the isolationist advanced civ buying shit from the scavengers.

Fantasy works make me picture elves as either haughty, imperial elitists or grim post-empire collapse survivalists/isolationists with little in-between. Giant haughty elves would be villains' I'd love too hate, but having another human sized race in the setting can be interesting too
