Kicking the Bean!

Yesterday my husband and I had a long talk about my Patreon page. I spend an insane amount of time making story's and commissions in Daz and constantly do side stories for friends. A Patron pointed out that I still have several unfinshed stories on the page presently. My husband complained that I am becoming a stranger and I can't have that! He is right though. As soon as I finish my work and chores I run to my computers and start at it. So here is my fix.

I have displayed several more stories last month where the Patrons start a story commission and then disappear. So obviously I do not have a lack of material to work on. What I need is focus. My problem seems to be I enjoy creating characters a bit too much so I have difficulty saying no to every idea I come up with or gets presented to me. That has to change. So I am committed to cleaning up my act. I will not start another story until I finish what I have already started. When I am done with my current brace of stories I will only then begin new ones, the first being a tribute story recently showcased here called "Play yer Part." The next being "The Winchester". That story will be retooled and reposted after I change several things in it.

After that I will post a list of stories that were started but never saw the light of day. You will be given the option to vote on which ones I do with a maximum of 3. I will only work on 3 at a time from then on. That's the best I can promise. The Mexican jumpimg bean in me cannot be fully contained or chained, tequila will calm it but It cannot be stopped completely. Three seems reasonable. I will also limit my commissions and free work and clear them with 10 count before committing. This will give me time to make sure my man doesn't ever feel that way again.

Kindly, let me know your thought on this.

The Bean runs deep in me but as you said it is better to have finished product than a pile of halfway theres... It is just hard for me.😒

Finding a balance is the tough part. But it seems like you're getting that out the way. Finish your pieces the way your heart desires. It's better to have multiple finished products that a bunch of halfway finished products.

Thank you Don, your timing was crazy...unless of course my husband is paying you!!!!😋I'm not going to lie, it isn't going to be easy but I know it will be better.🥰

I'm late to the party, but I'll add that I'm fully appreciative of every part of your message, especially since I'm the culprit who recently labeled you a jumping bean. I'm also blown away by all the thoughtful, well-spoken comments from all those who have replied above. I admire your honesty, self-reflection, and willingness to adopt your course to stay more focused. This was the intent of my earlier comments. I understand the temptations of a creative mind, but I feel your best offering lies in your storytelling. Your plan for having no more than 3 concurrent stories is exactly what I had in mind. When you finish one of the three, you can start another. Sprinkle in a few one-offs as you feel fit but stop short of them consuming you and your time. I'm also glad to hear you consider my suggestion to retool The Winchester in your own image. It's a good story and you were doing a bang-up job with it. P.S. I love Mexican food and tequila!!

Don

You are the best!🥰

I agree and I believe I have a problem.😌

Ah, the typical issue I see so many artists have. You guys have too many ideas and nowhere near enough time in the world. Glad you are trying to focus a bit more. Hope it works out for you. I'm always just pleased to see what you share with us.

Gaiden

I think it would be good if there weren't too many stories running at the same time.

Thanks for understanding. I'll still produce the same amount, maybe more?😋

I know the feeling. I do the same with the stories I am writing for Hornycles but end up coming up with new ones and not focusing on the next part of the ones I write. You got to do what is best for you. Sometimes a slower pace does us wonders.

Thanks Master.

Thanks. It's for the best. Please yell at me if I slip...today doesn't count cuz I gotta dump some stuff though,😌

It's an unfortunate reality that we either have too much enthusiasm and too little time, or too much time and too little enthusiasm. It seems like you're suffering the former. While I've always adored your explosive creativity and desire to dive into new stories and characters, in situations like this, it may unfortunately become necessary to focus on just a few at a time... Which I know can be hard because nothing feels worse than getting an idea for a new story while you're knee-deep on one already.

Thank you for being honest and open with us. Your plan sounds healthy and reasonable, and I really respect you for putting balance first. We appreciate the work you do and are happy to support you at a pace that’s good for you. Quality over quantity—always.
