Grimdark Viking Pack - Early Release for Java (with bonus textures)

After some minor delays, I've finally finished my Viking Armor! While this pack will be made available for everyone over on Planet Minecraft and Curse soon, I do have some exclusives tucked away for my Patrons which won't be in the PlanetMC or Curse downloads - hopefully you're all keen on an extra variant.

But first, a little background...

In the process of making the Viking armor for this pack, I wanted to start dialing in my color palettes. In doing so I ran into a problem I've had since 1.16 - Netherite gear coloring is tricky. I think Mojang were going for a dark, nether-purple tinted look but it doesn't translate well. Especially not after upscaling the armor's pixel density. So, every time I've done a new pack, I've tried tweaking the palette to find one that works and looks like a black metal. I sort of got around this problem with my Pirate pack since the gear relied heavily on secondary colors, but Viking gear includes a lot of chainmail and other metal bits, so I needed to pick a better metal color palette this time.

At one point I decided to try completely breaking with Mojang and just doing my own thing entirely which resulted in my Valorite gear. I love it but I knew it would be too great of a departure for some gamers out there and that's when I had the idea to include it as an exclusive variant just for my Patrons. You can check it out in the screenshot below (I'm wearing the Valorite).

What is Valorite you might be asking? Well, it's the top tier material in Ultima Online. One of the oldest MMOs out there and a favorite of mine. You can access the Valorite variants by renaming your Netherite gear. The Valorite set includes armor, tools, and I added a shield for good measure.
