2024-10-11 06:52:48 +0000 UTCThe bullet is just to the top right of the piece of paper and has a little bit of a sparkle to it. Another fun fact: The position Rose is in during this scene is the same exact position she's in during the season 1 episode's credits. π

2024-10-10 00:01:46 +0000 UTCBeauty and pain is such an apt description :') I don't have an answer for A2's influence on another branch yet. Unless it's referring to [redacted]? That could explain why [redacted]. That didn't occur to me until just now, thanks for the idea Luni!

2024-10-10 00:00:08 +0000 UTCOh absolutely, I remember when first reading the story on the terminal in the game, I was trying to imagine the story as it was being told and being able to see it animated is truly such a treat. In the most painful way possible. But wow, so cool to know that the actress was able to bring such a beautiful idea to the story and making it canon. I really loved the story behind the names. And yes! During the episode, especially towards the end I couldn't help but think back to that credits scene... it was so beautifully done. This anime and story is full of beauty and pain, and that's what I love so much about it ; - ; also, A2 influencing another branch? What does this meannn...

2024-10-09 23:28:16 +0000 UTCDude I think the change in her voice is such a painful detail in this story. It's like her spark and any joy she had is completely gone and it's just so crushing. I figured the paper was a list of all the names, but I didn't realize it was her taking the time to choose the perfect names for each of them... That was so beautiful and so sad. I did try to go back and see what you meant about the bullet, was that what was next to the paper as well? I think I gotta go back to season 1 to see this episode through Lily's POV again to see! But yeah, gosh... what an episode...

2024-10-09 23:19:59 +0000 UTCI feel like I usually am the same where I experience the emotions at the same time as the characters on screen, which is why I felt so weird during this episode when I was reacting as I expected myself to! I think maybe sometimes when there's a lot of information coming in that I'm trying to focus on as well, it almost puts a halt to my emotions cause I want to make sure I'm not missing any important details or something haha I dunno! What a heartbreaking episode though, I'm still processing...

2024-10-09 23:10:06 +0000 UTCShe's learning! Tissues were ready! Anyway...yeah, this episode broke me when it aired, but I'm in the boat of cry it out, then process. The empath in me feels more connected when I'm experiencing an intense emotion at the same time as the characters on screen, then afterwards I can process.

2024-10-09 20:59:49 +0000 UTCNieR sickos (me) are being feasted by this anime, and seeing this story animated is amazing. It blows my mind to think that YoRHa started with the stage plays in 2014 but the game wasn't released until 2017. The actress who played Rose on stage came up with the flower names of the YoRHa units herself and posted them on Twitter over six years ago. Now with this episode of the anime those names are officially canon. Also, yeah, what notmax said about the bullet and the paper! For some reason the part that I think affected me the most in this episode was at 8:00. It's very subtle but the details in the animation are so gut-wrenching. It might be fun to go back and check your reaction to the end of Episode 6 starting @ 22:35... I didn't go crazy with the brainrot in the comments of that one because I knew this episode was coming. Ui Hinagata's 2018 tweet about the flower names: https://x.com/ui_hinagata/status/994946432674099200 Ad break transition messages for Episode 17...: [Report] A rebellion has occurred within the Association. It has been suppressed and details are currently being investigated. [Report] We are currently discussing how the existence of A2 influenced another branch.

2024-10-09 20:59:08 +0000 UTCThis episode was A LOT. I had to watch it a few times to understand everything. I really like how the flashback episode in season 1 was from Lily's POV, while this episode was the same "event" but from A2's POV. You are correct about Rose giving them the family names at the end! If you go back to 22:47 in the react and pause, you can see a piece of paper with all of the flower names Rose was contemplating for each of them, with the final ones circled. You can also see the bullet that she shot that almost killed Lily. It all happens very fast. The fact Rose uses Lily's gun to... you know... right after preventing Lily from using it in the elevator to... you know... is just heartbreaking. There's a lot of other little details, but my favorite one was probably the ending scene with A2 looking at the shoreline. It not only mirrors the ending of Lily's flashback episode, but I love how you can hear A2's voice change from the soft / sweet one we hear in the flashbacks to the rougher one we hear today.
