yeah that interaction had me so surprised and confused! I wonder if this is something that has changed in this version of the story or something... excited to watch more and find out if so! but yeah, I figured since we're going through events much quicker through the anime, we're really getting to see a fast forwarded version of the pain that 9S learns in the game when it comes to the machines and their emotions, etc. this one definitely hurt :( and as always, love knowing the report dialogue. gets me thinkin every time

2024-08-11 22:00:26 +0000 UTC6:44 I think everyone was confused by this interaction. I know I was! AFAIK, it's brand new information and it's very intriguing. Since we spend less time with 2B and 9S compared to the game, where there's plenty of time for banter as we run around the game world, I feel like they condensed all of 9S' reminders that machine lifeforms don't have feelings into those last 10 seconds of this episode. It makes the contrast even more stark when the machines are obviously showing emotion and 9S is the most heartless he's ever been. Then again he did almost just get assimilated by Simone in that crazy adaptation of the hacking sequence so he's gotta still be traumatized by that and maybe lashing out for a little vengeance. Still very troubling to watch though. Ad break transition messages for Episode 4: [Report] What you get from vanity is meaningless recognition. [Report] Are you lying to yourself by believing that?
