Scheduling Change, New Story, & Other Updates - 18th December 2025
Added 2025-12-18 15:04:24 +0000 UTCHey everybody. I'll start this post by listing down the key points I want to discuss in depth. Here are the highlights:
Chloe the Zombie's posting schedule will be adjusted to 3x a week, updating every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. This change will affect both the posting rate on both Royal Road and Patreon.
I will be releasing a new story sometime in January or February 2026. This new story will have a separate tier and will not affect the subscription price for Chloe the Zombie. You can find more details about this new story in this post, as well as this one.
With that summary out of the way, I'd like to expand more on my thoughts here. For context, I am not a full-time author and probably won't be for a long time. I do have a full-time job, and so I normally write after I finish work, as well as during weekends.
Now, I'll be honest and say that my choice to slow down Chloe's release schedule is not entirely work motivated. It's true that my work obligations have piled up in recent months, but that's not the entire reason I'm slowing down Chloe's upload schedule.
Chloe the Zombie was an absolute blast to write, but it's clear to me that the story has taken some hits in quality because I've had to rush out chapters to meet my posting schedule. My evidence for this claim is that both my reader retention on Royal Road has decreased over time (this is a statistic you can see if you have author premium on Royal Road), as well as the gradual decrease in paid patrons for this story.
With the benefit of hindsight, there are many things I would have approached differently. That said, there is no practical way to “fix” Chloe the Zombie without a complete rewrite, and that comes with its own challenges.
Because of that, my plan is to continue the story as it stands and see it through at least the completion of the second book. I will work with what I have, fully aware that different narrative choices could have resulted in a stronger story and focus on giving Chloe’s journey a reasonable conclusion.
At the same time, I have also begun working on a new project. This is a chance for me to apply what I have learned from Chloe the Zombie and create a more polished story from the ground up.
However, I know that many of you are here primarily for Chloe, and this does mean there will be less Chloe for the foreseeable future. If this influences your decision on whether to continue supporting me on Patreon, I completely understand.
Regardless of what you choose, I want to sincerely thank you for supporting my writing up to this point. It has been a genuine pleasure telling this story and chatting with all of you along the way.
Best Regards,
Evil Lemon
