took some pics of my progress. I'm not super well versed with clay, but it's really fun experimenting with it. what i do is usually i sketch out first what i want the finished piece to be, then try following that... but it's HARD! what seems fun and dynamic in a drawing might just come out clunky in clay... but that's part of the fun too, kinda! after i'm done i bake the clay in the oven, then i paint it 2 layers with white as a base acrylic color, then just try to paint 'em as best as i can.
the end result is often quite clumsy cause i don't enjoy fiddling with details when it's personal work, i feel a lot of art loses its fun to me that way. but still, i had a fun time making them, and i think they came out pretty cute! i lent my clay tool to a friend, so i had to make do with plastic scalpels and fingernails here... ouch
my favourite making was clara, who i had to stack with cut-off matches so she could stand. i think steel wire would be a really good option, but working on a budget, you take what you can find haha. the favourite at the end was artemy... i was really unsure about him, since i wasn't sure about his hair and face, and his initial posture with arms cross was VERY stiff. then i chose the pose with the heart instead and it added so much! i'm proud of that:')
the one i like least is daniil... he's really stiff and lifeless but hey, at least he looks whiny as he should! next time we'll do better, i hope. i really recommend clay-if you're able to get it, i'm not often able to afford it myself so i know LOL- but if you ever get a chance, even if you don't think it's your medium, i'd say try it out just for the hell of it! when art blocked, sometimes the best remedy is doing other creative work with your hands, whatever that may be. and clay work is also good for thinking in a 3d sense, though i suppose modeling does that as well... would be fun to try 3-D modeling someday.
sorry this got so long, i wanted to write a bit about the process and my thoughts making it! i hope you're all having a great day or night. thank u so much!
