Instructions for Accessing the Discord!

Hello everyone! We have a thriving community Discord server where you can attend live audio recordings, share cat pictures, chat with other listeners, react to content, play games, look at thirst traps, lurk, ask for vibrator recommendations, and much more — and we'd love to have you there if you're not already a part of it! We often get questions on how to join the server, so this post is going to explain the process in full detail. There are instructions below for both desktop and mobile.

How to join on desktop

1. Make a Discord account here if you don't already have one!

   

2. Go to this page and click the "Connect" button. A pop-up window should open.

   

3. If it automatically opens the Discord app, ignore it completely and click "Continue to Discord" in the browser pop-up window.

   

4. Log into your Discord account.

   

5. Scroll to the bottom and then click the "Authorize" button.

   

6. When you return to this page, it should now say "Connected to [discord username]" (you may need to refresh the page).

   

7. Open Discord, either through the desktop app or in your browser. "Vel's Library" should now appear in your list of available servers! (Although in some instances it can take up to an hour to sync and appear.) You'll also have a welcome message from the "Card Catalog" bot with basic instructions on how to search through Vel's audio masterlist.

   

8. Complete the onboarding process. If you don't know what content you'd like to see, we'd recommend selecting all the options; you can always scale back and remove things later if it's too overwhelming!

   
   

9. Optional but helpful: select "Show all channels" in your server settings so you don't miss any content due to weird default Discord behavior.

   
   

How to join on mobile

You need to use your mobile phone browser for this process, NOT the Patreon app itself. The Patreon website might try to redirect you to the Patreon app at several steps of this process; say no every time to stay in your mobile browser because it won't work in the Patreon app.

We've verified this process in both Firefox and Safari, but there have been sporadic issues with using Chrome where it gets you stuck in a loop of logging into patreon, then discord, then patreon, then discord, etc. If you're having that problem, we'd recommend trying a different mobile browser! The same applies if your browser forcibly transfers you to the app and doesn't let you stay in browser.

Troubleshooting

Some advice from Patreon if you're experiencing issues with this not working:

If you’ve connected Patreon and Discord, we recommend disconnecting and reconnecting Discord to Patreon. Before doing so, log out of Discord and clear your cache and cookies to start fresh. If the pop-up to log into Discord isn't opening for you,

This typically happens if you have an ad blocker or browser extension blocking pop-up windows. Please disable these extensions while connecting Discord to Patreon.
