December's Rewards & other life updates

Hello friends! 

It's been a while since I've last posted here. I've been taking time from social media and drawing/work to heal my hands/wrists. Recently I have been diagnosed with carpal tunnel and to prevent from having surgery in the future, I was advised to stop working for another 1-2 months and slowly ease back into it. My hands have healed considerably since I can now use a keyboard without much pain! Until then, I've been experimenting with a looser and less precise style in my sketchbook using markers. There's less pain when I don't try to do such small and precise lining while working on a bigger canvas. Might even try doing traditional illustrations in the future since it's easier on my hands than drawing digitally. We'll see!

Anyways, I plan to start my Patreon back in March (health permitting) in time for my birthday and reopen up my shop in January.

About December's Patreon, I'm sure many of you have noticed that there has been a Patreon charge in December.

I'm really sorry for the confusion that the latest charge has caused! I was absolutely positive that I paused December's billing earlier in November and since I didn't receive an email from Patreon stating that they will start charging Patrons in the next few days, I was reassured that I did in fact pause it. So I was very surprised when I received an email from Patreon that my funds were currently being transferred over to my bank account on the 5th, as well as a couple of messages from Patrons asking if I'm back from my hiatus since they had been charged, yet I hadn't made a post about being active again.

I have contacted Patreon when I realized what happened and as expected, Patreon responded very unhelpfully.

This is the email I received from them. I initially wanted a way to refund everyone at once and there doesn't seem to be anyway to do that, other than refunding everyone individually one by one.

However, since the funds have been cleared from my Patreon on Dec 5th automatically and already transferred to my bank account, I am left with no additional funds in my Patreon Payout balance. Since I have no funds available, I am unable to refund everyone through Patreon unless I chose to refund everyone outside of Patreon based on what their support has said.

If I were to do that, I would be the one put in a financial disadvantage. Once those funds are transferred from Patreon to my bank, Patreon takes out fees and taxes from me. So to refund everyone outside of Patreon, I would have to refund the full amount including the fees+taxes out of my own pocket while Patreon gets to keep my money.

So, unfortunately, I am unable to refund everyone. As a result, I decided for December I will send out an illustration that I had been planning on making a print of once I reopen my shop in January. I'm unable to draw anything new right now so I hope that this will suffice.

I know a lot of people have been asking for this as a print and I'll have them made into 5" x7" prints which is a little larger than the ones I usually make. The rewards will also include a sticker as usual!

I know that was very unexpected and I'm really sorry for any problems that this might have caused! Being charged unexpectedly is not fun and I understand that if you'd still like to be refunded for any reason, feel free to contact me and I'll work it out with you!
