Poll time! Should Patreon designs be available elsewhere?
Added 2021-01-08 19:51:51 +0000 UTCHello! I just wanted to pop in to to ask you all a question that has been on my mind for awhile. As you know, all my Patreon rewards are only available through here for a certain period of time. That might change later cause I was planning on making a Patreon exclusive shop especially since I am starting to accumulate extra prints and stickers and they need to go! But that's another story for a later time.
So here is my question, how do you feel about designs (not the product) being available through my Etsy shop as a different product?
For example: This month I have two vinyl stickers and I wouldn't sell those stickers through my shop but rather re-use the design to be sold as small square prints? So there is still an exclusivity for the product itself but not necessarily the design.
I'm a rather slow artist so I can only make a small amount of illustrations/designs per month and most of my time goes towards Patreon. It would be great for me to be able to re-use those designs on different products so I can reopen my Etsy more frequently with new products.
BUT
before I do anything, I really want to know what you guys think about this? I don't want to just go ahead and do it without having an idea of how you all feel about it! I had technically done this once before when I used a part of previous sticker sheet and made the design into an individual clear vinyl sticker. At the time I was thinking, "well, it's my design and I can sell it if I want to and it's different enough...." but afterwards I felt weird about not consulting with you guys first! Especially since you're the ones who are making this whole thing possible!
Anyhoos, let me know what you think! Even if you disagree with me, I'd really appreciate it hearing your thoughts.

Cause yeah, patreon is a way to keep this as my full-time job but it felt like I had to produce new work ALL the time for every selling platform and they can't overlap cause that's what people expect from me. I'm not really sure where I got this idea from cause I don't expect that from creators that I enjoy so why am I putting this pressure on myself?

I feel like I'm pledging more as a way to support your work and help you produce items rather than as a means of getting special exclusive items. I definitely wouldn't be bothered by you selling the items I've received elsewhere.
