I've only started learning since I've retired so I'm not great, but my mother is in a long term care home and about a year ago I started using the visits to bring my guitar and play what I knew. At first the the nurses were kind but direct, "you're not very good are you?" But it was great way to build confidence and the residents all like it when I played in the common room. I've gotten better and can play for about an hour with no repeats. Just about every nursing care facility will allow anyone to entertain the residents. You may not get paid, but it's a great way to practice in front of a forgiving and usually appreciative audience. Plus you learn a lot about yourself in a place where people are often forgotten and never get visits.
