For this video I talk a bit about the story behind my number 1 axe

I just bought my first "real" guitar earlier this year! It is a 1962 reissue stratocaster but it is made by a company called Blade which was established in 1985 so I dont know how that math works. But I pretty much did the same thing as you but instead of SRV I love David Gilmour and wanted a 60s strat like his (not to say SRV isnt also a killer strat player) this baby blue dream cost me $1600 and it was worth every penny.

My number one is an Ibanez Prestige RGD2127z. I'd been going through a bit of musical confusion and felt like all the guitars I owned were pulling me in directions that I'd either already been down or they weren't particularly interesting me with the ideas they were offering. I felt like they deserved a better home and as if I'd gotten almost all the ideas I could get from those guitars and so I sold them. It wasn't an easy decision but it worked out for me. I needed to focus on one thing and I couldn't do it with seven guitars all around in different tunings and writing some rather generic sounding prog rock. So I used the money I got to get the RGD, since named Miranda after Prospero's daughter from The Tempest, and settled into my playing. I've swapped out the stock pickups for Dimarzio Illuminators, being a fan of John Petrucci, and the matte finish shows a lot of character from how I play the instrument. Whenever I'm writing or recording this is the guitar I pick up. I own a few other Prestiges and they all get love, but this guitar was the only one I owned for about two years and the mark it has left on my playing is undeniable. My girlfriend says Miranda makes her feel like the "other woman."

Your dad sounds great. You should do a video with him for Father's Day. Which coincidentally is in four days.
