I am highly monolingual so I read Borges in English. I don't know enough about the different translations to answer your question intelligently, but the translations I've mostly read are those Penguin Classics Deluxe Editions of his collection fictions, selected nonfictions, and selected poems. And The Book of Imaginary Beings which also rules. Are they good translations? I dunno, but they give ME goosebumps, so I guess they work.

May I ask, do you read Borges in Spanish or do you read translations? If the latter, do you favour a particular translator of his work?
