New Video: How Soon Will COVID-19 Peak?

We are in weird times right now and the news is particularly stressful - I wanted to know how can we have a better sense of what's going on, where we're headed, so I worked with Aatish Bhatia on a better way of visualizing COVID success (or failure).  Patreon support is particularly helpful for projects like this, as it allows me to support & collaborate with other science communicators!

Stay safe,

Henry

New Video: How Soon Will COVID-19 Peak?

Comments

Henry - well done video, as always. It would be time consuming, but a similar analysis of the swine flu, average seasonal flu and Covid-19 would be helpful in determining what appropriate responses would be to novel viruses. Are we overreacting to this virus, under reacting to seasonal flu, or are we spot on? I would think the CDC would be a logical producer, but a non-governmental, neutral observer would be a welcome addition to the arena of ideas. Probably a bit off topic for your channel - but I trust you.

Thank you for this. This is the news that everyone needs to see and understand.

Another huge question mark—perhaps THE other question mark—is lethality.... [EDIT: I see you already have this as an option on the graph!]

Thank you! It is now public/live. (I posted it live essentially immediately, given the circumstances)

2. Never have I been more grateful for Patreon and getting immediate access. That said... this is perhaps the first time I've ever received early access and regretted it was so. This _particular_ video I think is desperately needed out in the world asap. I for one would feel no loss if you just released it to the public right now. Please let me know when it's publicly available and I'll post it to my socials.

1. THANK YOU. We are all searching for ways to make sense of really hard to wrangle data, and, leave it to MinutePhysics, already a beacon of making hard things comprehensible, to jump in with a really useful view into the data, WITH caveats so we can understand what we don't understand. Bravo and Kudos.
