Any runners out there?

This has nothing to do with physics, but I'm curious how many of you are runners? (I've always been a runner, but have just recently gotten a lot more into trail running) Do you run for fun, or health, or competition?

Any runners out there?

Comments

I run, not enough. I set a goal to do a marathon, so far I've done a half. Running makes me feel alive.

Always been a runner. The past 5 years or so I discovered trail running and ultras. I recently realized that I now rank my favorite cities primarily based on how good their trails are. It's a sickness. Can't get enough.

I run now. I have tried sports of all sorts from elementary through college. I'm in grad school now and have taken up running in order to stay active and because it's cheaper than fencing (but I would still be fencing if money weren't an issue).

Nope, not a runner. In general I don't like running/walking/cycling just for the sake of it. I do practice Aikido on a regular basis, so I do get some exercise..

Yep, I run as much as I can, partly for fun and partly for my mental health, helps me clear my head. I like doing 10Ks and want to do a half marathon, but not to win, just for fun.

Erica Pratt

I run 2 or 3 times per week (5-10km) primarily for health and social reasons. I also do competitions for fun, so all of the above :-)

Nick Cohn

I am a runner but I've got a heart issue at the moment. I do it for fun. I like to do Ultra relays

Andrew Stobie

I teach fitness classes part time, so I run for some variety--so I guess for health and fun. I hate running inside, I run mostly on paved trails, and some gravel trails.

I love to run. I like to think that with each footfall, I am ever so slightly rotating the earth.

Kristina Foss

*besides. Sorry, buggy autocorrect on beta

Never seen the appeal in running, though I'm not much one for exercise for exercise's sake. I mountain bike quite a lot, and use my bike to get around Toronto. But more than anything, I walk >20km per day and usually cover a dozen or two flights of stairs daily as part of my job. Beside so, the feeling of being sweaty in the already muggy city is the farthest thing from appealing to me.

Where you are living these days I can see why! I run for fun, competition, adventure, and to keep in shape for nordic ski season.

Craig cardinal

I run for fun and for health almost everyday.

I used to run but I can't do it anymore due to serious health issues. I'll probably never be able to run again in my life. I did it sometimes after a long stressful day in the office to "shut down". I guess this could be considered fun but health was a plus too

Uwe

I'm a runner. I do it for all those reasons (while not being particularly fast or competitive...).
