A Note from Nate Regarding Our Lineup

Hello everyone,

First of all, thank you so much for your support of our show. It's because of you that we're able to make this a consistent program, and we really do appreciate the fact that you're willing to subscribe.

After a period of deliberation, Adrian has decided to leave the show. Francis and I are greatly appreciative of the work that he did for us, both in the beginnings of this program and recently, but we all agree that there are irreconcilable political differences based on both his opinions and what he's able to say publicly in his current line of work.

We put out a bonus episode earlier today that I edited, and I expressed some consternation about it because -- while I think it was absolutely done in good faith -- I felt it didn't engage on the topics that it needed to. We didn't create this show to be an echo chamber, but we didn't create it to be a garden of platitudes, either.

I'm not a centrist and I don't believe in engaging the center in any capacity other than to admonish them to pick a side. I refuse to break bread with the right in any capacity, even if we have shared goals like anti-imperialism or anti-militarism. Francis is more willing than I am to give people a wide berth if he thinks their hearts are in the right place and that they don't compromise on basic values, but he agreed with me that certain lines are important. And, behind the scenes, we've had a lot of debate about what kinds of programs to run and what kinds of guests to bring on. That has led to disputes on the show and off it, and in light of these Adrian has decided to move on.

You might also have noticed from recent show notes that Karl Morand recently departed as our producer. I'll be producing the episodes moving forward, so there's obviously been a lot of churn in the past few weeks. That said, we're committed to meeting our Patreon tiers each month, specifically with the idea that there will be a new bit of audio bonus content at least once a week. I plan to leave Adrian's episodes up. He also has an upcoming one where he interviews members of the Socialist Rifle Association, which he's asked us to produce and release. I plan to do that next month.

Anyway, I do this for a living now. Between this show and a few others I'm able to stay afloat here in the United Kingdom, so I obviously have a personal interest in making sure it's a success. I am very grateful for your patience with us, and I hope that in the year to come we continue to grow and to retain listeners.
