Hey. I've been quiet about progress against ShoPro for a while, but that's because there's no progress to report. This is an annoying fact.
Don't take this to mean that I've been doing nothing. I present to you: The Vidme Option! Wow, that name isn't as dramatic as I hoped.
Anyway. This is a temporary solution to the blocked videos. Vidme is an alternative to YouTube that cites itself as 'the friendliest to creators' and after browsing their monetisation rules, they may be telling the truth. They seem to assume that each creator is in the right over fair use until proven otherwise.
I've been speaking to the CEO of my network himself regarding the issues with ShoPro and he praises Vidme as an alternative to YouTube. That is why, until they can make their triumphant return to the red button, I'll be posting the blocked episodes (currently Ep1 and Ep42) on my newly-created Vidme account.
I have never used Vidme before, so this is something of a trial-run for a potential redistribution. If the platform functions and has the potential to turn a profit for me, I may continue the series on there. I don't want to do that (for a variety of reasons), but it's either that or something a bit more drastic.
I'll be posting the two ShoPro-blocked episodes (I'm not gonna post Porygon and Dratini until I know the monetisation works as they were barely watched before their blocking) on Vidme in the next day or two and will post videos on my YouTube that'll redirect people watching the playlist to the missing episodes. This is to fill the gaps and maintain the series as it is until I can continue building it.
I hope you guys followed all of that... I wrote this a bit inelegantly, but I feel I can be a bit more informal with you guys. Most of this is musing and won't be public, but I won't swear you guys to secrecy or anything. I expect that I'll have some ideas to run by you guys in the near future after the Vidme experiment has run a bit.
EDIT: Scrap most of that. Vidme is closing in 2 weeks, so there's no point using it. I'll think of something else.
