Given they're never explicitly shown except in the background and are only mentioned in the Pokedex in the 'meta' description (Electric Mouse Pokémon, for example), I just can't accept that they exist with any prevalence to be acknowledged. It always strikes me as something the original writers weren't sure about including and all subsequent ones have just followed their lead. They neither exist nor are fully non-canon. Perhaps the Minun should be 'they should not exist', but for simplicity and common understanding I just say that they don't.

I think you should stop giving minuns for mentioning real animals, it's never really explicitly stated there's no animals other than pokemon and the pokemon universe has had some interesting and shifty backstory stuff about how there used to be normal animals before pokemon. Also the pokedex lists most animal pokemon as the animal they're based on so even then a "cat" can just refer to meowth, a "mole" can refer to diglett, etc because of the pokedex.
