I know the Upstream podcast has done some other episodes on parenting that have touched on this a little bit. I am not an expert by any means, but the early USSR tried to work out some of these problems - especially Alexandra Kollontai and her contributions as the People's Commissar for Social Welfare and the Zhenotdel. I would be curious to learn more about what other socialist countries like China, Vietnam, Cuba etc have done since then with respect to your third paragraph

Especially for activists it seems that we need more of us as times get worse and parenting is a potential loss of comerades as family becomes priority. would also be interesting to hear a perspective on white people deciding to have kids of their own (i.e. white kids) as opposed to adopting or building a community for co-parenting. on that note, would be cool to expand on the idea of being a parent from the nuclear standard to the "it takes a village" theory. why do we think that two people who are attracted to each other will also be the right people to teach a child everything to survive. what are systems of community parenting that can work? what needs to happen to enable such systems of collective responsibility.
