In this video, I explored the new features of Time 12, the updated version of the free and open-source time-shaping plugin. It now includes a Sequencer, is compatible with Windows, macOS, and Linux, and still works seamlessly for creative sound design. I showed how to apply it on pad-like drones using Bitwig’s Polymer and additional plugins like Supermassive and Bitwig Delay, creating textured, evolving soundscapes. I also briefly revisited Gate 12, which now includes similar sequencer capabilities.
Key Points:
Time 12 plugin:
Free, open-source time/delay buffer shaper.
Now works on all platforms (Windows, macOS, Linux).
Includes a new Sequencer for pitch and timing modulation.
Supports custom brushes, randomization, and audio-triggering via sidechain input.
Sound Design Workflow:
Used Polymer with random wavetable modulation for a drone pad.
Added Time 12 on an empty page to apply pitch-shifting and delay effects.
Utilized sequencer to modulate pitch over time (e.g. halftiming, octaves).
Sequencer Features:
Change attack, release, tension per step.
Flip shapes, randomize values or ranges.
Paint mode for drawing curves with custom or saved brushes.
Apply button finalizes sequencer changes.
Advanced Features:
Audio-triggering: Use audio or sidechain input to trigger curve retriggering.
Combine with Bitwig delay, reverb, and Gate 12 for layered textures.
Gate 12 update:
Also includes the new sequencer.
Can be used for volume shaping and adding rhythm.
Let me know if you want a deeper dive into the sequencer modes or how audio-triggering works!
