Update: added Chroma-Wig (chroma replica test)
In this video, I explore the new Dome Filter introduced in Bitwig Studio 5.3 Beta, which offers unique possibilities for sound design. It's a complex tool that may initially seem odd, but it opens doors to creative modulation and synthesis techniques. I demonstrate how it works, including its real and imaginary outputs, phase shifts, and potential for re-synthesizing signals and creating advanced audio effects like pitch wobble, frequency shifting, and even a form of FFT-based re-synthesis.
I also show how to build unique effects using the grid and share examples you can download.
Dome Filter Basics: Includes real, imaginary, magnitude, and phase outputs with adjustable quality (Rough to Excellent).
Phase Shift Effects: Explored how phase shifts affect audio signals, enabling pitch wobble and frequency shifting effects.
Signal Re-synthesis: Combined phase and magnitude outputs to re-synthesize signals via sine functions, offering creative sound design potential.
Creative Modulation: Used LFOs and other tools to manipulate phase for effects like pitch shifting and frequency shifting.
FFT-like Techniques: Built a makeshift FFT filter by isolating single frequencies, useful for precise sound design tasks.
Advanced Applications: Demonstrated frequency analysis and pitch correction setups using the grid and dome filter.
Overall, the Dome Filter introduces a range of possibilities that weren't achievable in Bitwig before. Let me know your thoughts and check the description for a downloadable preset!
