In this video, despite being under the weather, I cover Kick 3, which recently dropped. It was released just a day after Kick Ninja, and while I'm not sure who copied whom, Kick 3 offers some standout features worth discussing.
One major difference between the two is that Kick Ninja handles the kick drum sequentially, while Kick 3 does it in parallel, offering a smoother and more natural sound. I also go over how to use its features like the ability to analyze and separate kicks, its modular effects section, and improvements over Kick 2, like key tracking. Although I’m still recovering, I wanted to share some initial thoughts on this beta version, which I think has great potential.
Kick 3 vs. Kick Ninja: parallel processing in Kick 3 versus sequential in Kick Ninja.
Kick 3 offers smoother and more natural sound for kicks with a sine oscillator from start to finish.
You can drag samples into Kick 3, analyze and separate sub and click layers.
Kick 3 has new features like selective key tracking, modular effects, and macro controls.
There are some bugs in the beta, like crashes, but overall it’s promising.
PsyTrance producers might appreciate a static phase feature, though it’s not in yet.
