2024-01-25 16:07:10 +0000 UTCLoved this and love Tarkovsky. Another cracking Soviet era film to check out is The Colour of Pomegranates. Visually stunning and yet ultimately low budget with interesting relationship to the bureaucracy and religious in tone.

2024-01-25 15:03:45 +0000 UTCStalker is another great Tarkovsky joint. It’s amazing how earnest and introspective Soviet films are. The war movies are great too, epic tank battles, darkly comedic portrayals of hitler, and laying out how the west tacitly supported the Nazis to the very end.
