D-OTT

Update: I changed some of the default settings and inner ratio correlations, so it matches more with the OTT VST at 50% depth, 100% up/down, 100% time and 0 in and out gain. It doesnt sound exactly the same, but it comes close.

In this video, Dave Linnenbank demonstrates how to create a simple compressor in Bitwig's Grid. After watching his tutorial, I created my own preset called D-OTT, a multi-band compressor/expander, and in this video, I showcase its features and functionality.

Comments

Yea sure, but u usually want to color the sound anyway? So for me i'm not in the "i need everything clean all the time" producer camp. :D I like when processes "add" something. I think the original OTT is not that clean either. And part of the charm of OTT is that its dirty and squashy. When you want to keep everything clean all the time, then there are better options like you said crossover or freq-split.

Polarity

When I use crossover 2 or 3 and then put it in an instrument layer with a flipped polarity tool I get to hear what crossover is adding...and it's a lot. It distorts a lot! I ended up using NIH CLAP crossover plugin which is linear phase 24db. It is 100% clean, no noise. I keep begging BW to give us a LP filter. What do you think?
