2022-09-19 23:45:17 +0000 UTCthis was great - had to listen twice to fully grasp; dense and complex, in the best way. the section on arrhythmia and connecting it to the pandemic reminded me a bit of Rebecca Solnit's A Paradise Built in Hell, which is at least 10 years old, but I read very recently so it is sort of fresh in my mind. she's coming at it from more of an anarchist framework, but the first hand accounts of various historic disasters and the ways that people respond to these "liminal spaces'' where capitalism is temporarily "paused" (arrythmia) are fascinating and totally in line with Derek's analysis.
