When someone from the host podcast scoffed at some liberal mentioning the contradiction between the socialist state and bureaucracy I recalled Stalin's incipient reflections on this contradiction. The purges were meant to be the method for the resolution of this contradiction, as was ideological training. It is not at all stupid to think that the sprawl of the socialist state is accompanied by a tendency towards bureaucracy, imo. All the rest of what was quoted was plain dumb though.
