Eco-Dharma: Buddhist Teachings for the Ecological Crisis

Comments

Heyo Breht! Please do read the whole book if you get the permission/it’s acceptable. I love your reading style and I find it difficult to engage with written text (another reason why I love listening to your podcast!)

This was great to listen to and I'd love to hear more of it read, I listen to your podcasts while working a minimum wage job and rarely have a chance to read as much as I want to. It would be great to hear discussion on this point about lack and projects of lack - capitalism is a perfect system to parasitically feed and reproduce this feeling of lack. How much of capitalism is unconsciously enacted to do this, and how much is it specifically engineered to do so (eg production of desire of consumer goods, of specific personal or cultural qualities, and so on). Is the distinction important on a collective level? And most importantly, how can we change this, not just in ourselves but in the people around us? How can we engage with this feeling of lack in a way that doesn't decimate us further - especially when even love and attachment to comrades, lovers, or family can be painful, difficult or almost impossible?
