Defending Socialism: Human Nature, Waking up from the Nightmare of History, and The Demand to Evolve or Perish

Twitch streamer CommieCon interviews Breht on a wide range of topics, including common arguments against socialism and how to refute them, Marx's conception of Species-Being and its relationship to alienation and human nature, Marxism v. Anarchism and what both have to offer, the evolution of human civilization through history, how violence is and is not conceived by liberals, and Nature's increasingly stern demand that we evolve or perish.

I am so happy to hear that, my friend. I am glad you found a way to turn a negative into such a blooming, blossoming positive, and used a bad situation to expand your own human potential. Love and Solidarity from across the Atlantic! <3

Listened to this the morning of 1/6/21... oh the irony. Trying to do what I can to propagandize during such an important moment.

I love what you said about us having to prioritize getting a job and following a career path before being able to explore what we love, hobbies that make us happy but don’t give us money. All my life I’ve studied, got a double bachelors degree, learned a bunch of languages thinking I wanted to pursue diplomacy, three internships in different countries, a bunch of volunteer work, and got my masters degree right before the pandemic started. When I was finally “ready” to get a job in my field, the pandemic hit (as if Spain’s unemployment situation couldn’t get any worse) and I found myself depressed over the fact that I couldn’t get a job after preparing for this moment all my life. Frankly, being confined did me a huge favor. I picked up drawing and singing (which I hadn’t done for 7 years and it’s shockingly still in me), got into Afro dance from Guinea, committed myself to 2-3 hours of yoga a day, started a Wordpress blog, read more books than I had in the past 3 years, learned Catalan and started Portuguese, and started giving private English lessons here and there to be able to survive. My whole world, or expectations of adulthood has been turned upside down. I feel like I am no longer being brainwashed with all that bullshit ideology of purpose = career = worth. And I feel FREE! Red Left Radio definitely played a big part in coming out of this post-graduate existential crisis. So thank you!!
