It's an interesting point, but I feel like it was addressed implicitly by the whole discussion. The political practice of liberation theologians - direct support of, and participation in, revolutionary armed struggle and in revolutionary governments - is a refutation of the idea that they preached leaving political change in God's hands. They might have said 'well, people resisting oppression are channeling Jesus/the Holy Spirit' or whatever, but I think if we're talking about people doing things (rather than just praying or whatever) then its functionally equivalent imo.

The one thing I didn’t hear you all address was the most common criticism I’ve seen of liberation theology which is that it robs the proletariat of agency. “It’s in God’s hands. If it’s His will then revolution will come.”

I'm so pumped about this episode and the general nuanced non dogmatic approach of this area on the show. I loved the last time this subject was covered.
