Maoism Deep Dive: Critique of Maoist Reason

J. Moufawad-Paul lives in Toronto and works as casualized contract faculty at York University where he received his PhD in philosophy. He is the author of Austerity Apparatus, Continuity and Rupture, and Demarcation and Demystification.

In this episode, Breht and JMP discuss intra-Maoist lines of thought, examine their differences, and argue for a specific strain of Maoist thought as most in line with a scientific approach to socialism; one that avoids the traps of dogmatism, eclecticism, and opportunism.

Maoism Deep Dive: Critique of Maoist Reason

Comments

The Peruvian Communist Party was mentioned several times, and Breht mentioned at one point the idea of dedicating a segment to shining Path. I for one would be really interested in this. A few years back I spent some time in Peru (post Shining Path) and it seems to me that that ill-fated organization exemplified left opportunism and adventurism, but that may not be an accurate assessment. What was clear was that Shining Path completely poisoned Left ideas for Peruvians for at least a generation.

Ive heard all of the talks with JMP and it always leaves me confused about this subject. Haha I guess i miss a part where he explains what you just told me or something, not sure what happens. The climate scientists example helps a lot. That clears it up a little more. I just need to study more and become more grounded in my scientific socialism. I definitely a few more thoughts and a few questions but i will work them out elsewhere, i know you are mad busy. Thanks big homie for responding so clearly and quickly. Yee!
