I definitely agree. AT the risk of sounding silly, there is a dialectical relationshiop between marxism and those post-marxist schools which criticized it. Marxism comes out of that interaction undefeated, but in the meantime absorbs some of those lessons and ideas. I think he had a whole answer where he said we can and should integrate aspects of those schools into Marxism to help nurture a more robust marxism.

2019-02-10 19:09:24 +0000 UTCI organize with and alongside several different local community organizations. Literally the entire point of this episode was how defending marxism as a science leads to more effective strategizing and organizing. IDK why youd wanna be a patron if you have so much disdain for me and what I do...

2019-02-10 19:06:22 +0000 UTCVery good episode! Generally, I like work that seeks common ground between seemingly opposed critical schools, rather than putting them against one another: Marxism vs deconstruction, post structuralism, etc. I tend to think there is good, useful political content in Derrida, Foucault, deleuze, etc—many of whom were quite involved in various forms of activism. I ESPECIALLY think that vulgar Marxist readings of Heidegger (which has been going on since Lukacs) are not useful at this point, when Heidegger has emerged as an important figure for climate justice and ecological movements. The patient well reasoned ways MLM Mayhem explains his views is a pleasure to listen to, I didnt agree with everything, but enjoyed it!

2019-02-09 18:35:06 +0000 UTCThey sound like possibly interesting books-that I have no use for. I wonder if any of the Revleft or Proles Marxisty kidd had ever considered learing a real world skill that could actually be of USE in a socialist society rather than intellectualizing ad nauseum..
