EARLY RELEASE FOR PATRONS: Motherhood and Radical Parenting in Late Capitalism

Enjoy!

First off, I’m absolutely in love with your show and how informative it is. Secondly, I’m not sure where the best place to make this suggestion is, but I just finished listening to your episode on radical parenting and I couldn’t help but think that an amazing follow up/ related segment would be an examination of reproductive rights under capitalism through a conflict theory/leftist critique, specifically how the function of anti-abortion movements serves as a rollback of women’s rights and in often preventing (especially working class women) from collectively achieving any material success or power that rivals capitalist patriarchal hegemony. I’m also curious what you think about the potential for reproductive technology (to quote Shulamith Firestone who also laid out blueprints for what communal parenting should look like, we need to “seize the means of reproduction”), and whether beings without uteruses or a potentiality of giving birth should have any “say” (be it voting or tangible legislative power) regarding abortion rights. Just a thought. I love and appreciate all that you guys do on Rev Left Radio - thank you for all your hard work.
