So far, it does a great job of contextualizing The Simpsons in the genealogy of American television and the history of 1980's pop culture. Even if you arent particularly a fan of The Simpsons, you will find this interesting and worthwhile!
EDIT: I finished it and its really good. It deconstructs the shows comedy in a successful attempt to highlight why it was so great in the beginning, and how it fell so far after season 8 or so. I highly recommend it.
