Circle Of Fith progressions with the Note Grid

Comments

This gave me a lot of new views how to work in the grid and piano roll. Also didn’t know the way to color in the pitch view…cool

Some interesting tricks in there. Selecting chord structures by channel assignment is a neat idea. And your Note Wrap proves useful, once again. Didn’t know about the colour-coding! Actually tried to devise something using the exact same idea: notes which are closer in the circle of fifths have similar colours. Adjusted things a little bit. Created some “cheat sheets” for myself using that scheme. Useful to know it’s available in the (in)famous pianoroll. The one trick which might send me on an experiment is to “Use note input” with the quantize module. What I’ve been meaning to do is create something which helps me play a different scale over each chord, based on chord/scale relationships. https://school.masteringmusescore.com/courses/jazz-improvisation-primer/lectures/10880264 Not sure how I could associate those things in the Grid, especially since more than one scale is usable on each/most chords. So, maybe with the same MIDI channel trick and multi-note arrangements for each scale. Could quickly get unwieldy. Still, worth some experimentation. As for this video, it might be fun to add some expressiveness, humanize things a bit, vary the drums… At any rate, thanks for the inspiration!
