IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

Hey everyone,

TWO Things:

1) A month or so ago we asked you all if you'd prefer we switch to a per-month format instead of the (often times confusing and inconsistent) per-creation format.

Well, this month we are doing that! So, we will make that change TODAY!

2) To give back to our Patrons, we are starting a monthly Q and A episode exclusively for you all. We will post a thread here every month asking for questions, and then I will pick a handful of those questions and work to find the best answers I possibly can to said questions. Towards the end of the month, we will release an episode where I give you those answers! This idea came about through realizing that the tone that people often take online is one of arrogance and stridency, and this makes people feel like they can't ask questions they sincerely want the answers to for fear of seeming not as informed as others. The truth is we all still have plenty to learn, and hopefully we can create a space of humility and respect here at Rev Left where people can ask questions and get them answered in a non-sectarian, non-aggressive way. This way we can all learn and develop together!

Please use THIS THREAD to ask those questions for the month of May!!!!

Also, let us know if you approve of these changes! We value your feedback deeply.

Comments

Absolutely! We have done that a bit with Maoism and Anarchism, but definitely could do more of that. And if you don't already know, Dr. Bones and I have our own podcast now called The Guillotine (on iTunes, and everywhere RLR is). So you can always check that out. We have like 12 episodes so far! :)

Revolutionary Left Radio

I would love to hear follow ups on previous episodes that go into more advance theory. In prev episodes we hear a quick run down of a tendency and touch on important topics relating to the tendency; but now that is done perhaps a follow up episode that goes further than the inital episode!! like i'd like to hear bones come back to talk more about egoism. so please Breht and Dave! lol part two episodes would be such a gift

Hey Breht, Really love the show, particularly the history episodes which have been extremely helpful understanding / researching the context of the historical left. This isn't really a question, but one thing I that I think would be really interesting is an episode on Laos. I was lucky enough to have travelled there last year and was floored by the legacy and continued brutality of the bombing by the US during the Vietnam War. I would really love to hear a current leftist take on the history and / or current state of the country. Joshua Kurlantzick's book "A Great Place to Have a War" (the title being a particularly grotesque quote from a CIA official), while imo a pretty good historical synopsis of the secret war and the US's actions, did not fully tackle the political climate of Laos from the perspective of the people there – a subject that remains elusive to me. Anyway, I thought you may know of a PHD grad or professor with a specialty in SE Asia that could maybe speak to the topic? I'm always impressed by the people you manage to find. If not, I'll keep doing research and maybe one day find someone that fits the bill to send your way. In any case, keep up the great work!
