I found this plugin at random yesterday evening. It generates progressions + melody lines and outputs everything on seprate midi channels. The results are quite "simple" but with some tweaking you can get quite nice results. The progression generator even supports non-diatonic chords. And when you export everything it can serve as a nice starting point for further tweakings.

(Im not quite sure if the progressions are really generated or random presets.)

Would like to have someting like this native in Bitwig.

if they add some tweaking features for moods maybe (sad/happy) or maybe even music genres, this could be really nice.

Bought it when it came out (been getting notifications from Plugin Boutique). It has some rough edges in terms of User Experience and some limitations are unfortunate. As you say, tweaking the output can lead to interesting results. I like the fact that it’s integrated in one app, unlike Captain Plugins, for instance. Some people using Scaler have been discussing it. It’s quite different and potentially complementary. As far as we can tell, it probably does use a bit of Machine Learning to generate patterns (including chord progressions). At the same time, it’s obvious it doesn’t have the kind of dataset that Google Research would use in Magenta Studio…

Interesting. Just yesterday I was checking out a similar concept with a plug-in called Chordjam. I found the results very impressive. And I recommend checking it out. It has a lot parameters that can be either randomized or locked or customized. The sequencer is pretty good. And each chord can be turned into an arpeggio. The same company also creates a MIDI melody composer plugin called Riffer. That one has some similar concepts in its operation. It doesn't really generate chords, but it is polyphonic.
